Carved from luminous Carrara white marble, Dissociation embodies both elegance and pain, capturing the paradox of solidity and unraveling within a single form. The sculpture spirals upward in a sequence of folds and layered ridges, resulting in a dynamic interplay of cohesion and fragmentation, as though the stone itself were caught between states of unity and separation.
Viewed from different angles, the work reveals ever-changing identities: unfurling petals, fabric twisting in motion, the mind in flux. The highly polished finish exposes complex natural veining of the marble, adding yet more depth and beauty amidst disruptive chaos.
With Dissociation, I invite contemplation of the multiplicity within selfhood—how memory, identity, and perception can fracture, diverge, and yet remain bound together. The sculpture is rooted and restless, serene and unsettled: a meditation on the delicate tension between presence and absence, connection and disconnection.
